About

We consists of me, Therese, and Rina, my Belgian Sheepdog puppy. Our days are filled with dog training and obedience tricks. It is my hobby and my passion. And it is a goal for me that we both have a lot of fun doing it! I've practially grown up with dogs, there's always been a dog in the family, at a close friend's house or at one of our neighbours. And my interest in these beautiful animals started from an early age. I've had dogs for a total of 16 years, and got the idea for making this site as I got ready to get a new puppy into my life. I was looking around for sites where I could get a few more hints on raising a puppy in order to make it a future obedience star, but I didn't find any that were just "right". So I decided to make my own site, a place where I can gather all my knowledge and tips I pick up along the way, as well as a basis for competitive obedience training. My plan is to let the site expand with me and Rina as we advance.

I'm not what I would call an expert on dog training, I don't think anyone really knows it all. But I strongly believe in learning as a lifelong process, and I think it's important to share what we learn along the way, so that other's may take advantage of what's already known. My experience with dogs comes from my own dogs, dogs that I've known through family and friends, different classes, and believe it or not, a minor degree in psychology. The principles of learning psychology made by Pavlov and Skinner, among others, apply just as well to dogs and animals, as to humans. You can read more about this under the section of clickertraining.

Classes that I've taken include:
  • Puppyclasses
  • Basic obedience classes
  • Classes on handeling and conformation showing
  • A Doggie First Aid class
  • and classes in competitive obedience
And I'm no where near done. I think I'll continue following classes as long as I'm able to. There's always something to learn from others, whether it be the instructors or the fellow classmates. Pluss it's fun and social for both me and the dogs.
I've also read countless books on all types of dogtraining, scanned the web for information and online discussions, and last but definatly not least: I've learned from my dogs. My late Belgian Sheepdog, Sari in particular. Through her short life she was an incredible influence on me, and I miss her every single day. This site is dedicated to you, my sweet angel.

That's enough from me. Please let me know if there's anything you find missing here, or if you have any questions at all. I'm more than happy to help.
